A summer at Grand View is a great opportunity for anyone looking to experience Alaska at its best. We are located in a rural community in the mountains of South Central Alaska, approximately 2 hours from Anchorage and situated between the cities of Glennallen and Palmer. We are just off of the Glenn Highway, a National Scenic Byway noted for its unsurpassed beauty.
Our employees love to explore Alaska's Sheep Mountain and Matanuska Glacier Areas. There is plenty of camping, biking and hiking nearby, as well as river rafting and glacier treks to occupy your time.
At Grand View, we take pride in our establishment, and we are looking for cheerful, energetic individuals who take pride in their work and will greet customers with a friendly smile and conversation. Our customers include a strong clientele of locals as well as tourists from around the world visiting our beautiful area of Alaska. The largest portion of our business is in the cafe, which seats 24 people and serves breakfast, specialty burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups and hand tossed, brick oven pizza. We also serve Espresso, beer and wine. Our staff also supports guests staying at our full service RV Campground.
FLEX WAIT STAFF
MORNING/AFTERNOON COOK
We’re looking for one person who loves preparing food, is a minimum of 18 years old and is knowledgeable in food safety and sanitation standards. Prior short order experience is preferred, however we are willing to train. Each morning this position opens the cafe, stocks prep table & prepares breakfast meals to order. Change over to lunch menu requires switching out the breakfast items to lunch items in the prep table, washing and cutting of produce and salad items, and filling condiments. May occasionally be asked to assist with soup making and baking. Cook does their own dishes and clean up of workspace at shift end. This position will be asked to perform any duties required in the operation of our business, including assisting wait staff , washing dishes, registering guests , helping paint and general maintenance. Must be an early riser, be able to communicate effectively with the afternoon /evening cook. Presentation must be neat with good personal hygiene. Pay $11.00 per hour DOE + gratuity share. 38-48 hrs. week.
AFTERNOON/EVENING PIZZA COOK
We’re looking for one person who loves preparing food, is a minimum of 21 years old, and is knowledgeable in food safety and sanitation standards. Prior pizza making experience required for our gas brick ovens. Shift starts with checking of evening inventory and doing food layout and prep for pizza making. This person will also be required to prepare specialty sandwiches, salads, and burgers to order. Must be able to communicate with morning cook, be fast on their feet, organized, efficient and work well under pressure. As well as doing their own prep work, they may be asked to make sauces. Cook does their own dishes and clean up of workspace at shift end. This position will be asked to perform any duties required in the operation of our business, including assisting wait staff, washing dishes, registering guests , helping general maintenance as time allows.
Presentation must be neat with good personal hygiene. Pay $11.00 + DOE per hour + gratuity share and must hold Alaska TAM card for serving beer and wine.
Works 38-48 hrs per Week.
This position is required to complete all the duties of our wait staff, but will work two morning and two evening shifts per week. Additional hours will be spent doing a variety of duties needed in the operation of the business. Pays $10.50 per hour + gratuity share. Works 38-48 hrs per week.

Seeking upbeat personality to serve our locals and tourists traveling through the area as well as assist with wildlife viewing with guests as time allows. Morning server must be minimum 18 + years old, have prior serving experience and hold an Alaska TAM card to serve beer and wine. Must be an early riser to assist with opening the cafe each morning. Duties include serving, taking food orders, delivering meals, making beverages, cashier and completing closing shift duties. Must also register RV and Cabin guests who are checking in. Presentation must be neat with good personal hygiene. Attire is professional casual. Pay $10.50 per hour + gratuity share. Works 38-48 hours per week.
EVENING WAIT STAFF
Seeking upbeat personality to serve our locals and tourists traveling through the area as well as assist with wildlife viewing with guests as time allows. Duties include taking food orders, delivering meals & making beverages and completing closing shift duties. Evening server must be minimum 21 years old, have prior serving experience and hold an Alaska TAM Card to serve beer and wine. Must also register RV and Cabin guest who are checking in. Presentation must be neat with good personal hygiene Attire is professional casual. Pay $10.50 per hour + gratuity share. Works 38-48 hrs per week.
DISHWASHER, HOUSEKEEPER & GROUNDS KEEPER
This person must enjoy cleaning, have an eye for detail, work independently and be self-motivated. Our business reputation was built on immaculate accommodations for our guests both inside and outside. This person will be doing a variety of duties, which will vary from day to day. Daily duties include cleaning the RV Park’s shower house, restrooms, restocking inventory of supplies, washing, drying and folding of linens, watering and upkeep of flower beds. When completed, this person steps inside the café to assist where needed. Dishwasher duties require that you bus tables and keep the dishes washed and put away. This position will mow the lawns, bundle and stock firewood, do painting and general grounds keeping and maintenance as needed. Will also be asked to do periodic cleaning of the lodge. Applicant must be 18 years old. Must be in good health to perform all the aspects of this job and enjoy working outside. Pays $10.50 + gratuity share. Works 38-48 hrs per week.
FLEX COOK
This position is required to complete all the duties of the cook, but will work two mornings and two evenings per week. Additional hours will be spent doing a variety of duties needed in the operation of the business. Pays $11.00 + DOE + gratuity share. Works 38-48 hours per week.
Additional Employment Details
Lodging & Meals
Due to our unique rural location, employees working full time are provided room and board under the conditions of their contract. Rooms are shared with the same sex roommate. When available, a private room may be an option. The employee’s common room is available with shower/restroom, Cable TV, and free Wireless Internet. There is laundry on site.
Work Schedule
Employees may be asked to work split shifts and/or switch between an alternating 5 day work week
and a 6 day work week.
Overtime is paid according to Alaska state labor laws.
Gratuity is shared and paid out with checks on the 5th and 20th of each month.
Conditions for Employment
All employees over 21 will be required to obtain a TAM card issued in the state of
Alaska in order to serve alcohol, which must be obtained 30 days after employment begins. The cost is $40.00 and transportation will be provided. In addition, we require a food sanitation & handling course.
Employees must be in good health, able to lift 25 lbs, and be on your feet for hours at a time.
