Grand View
Lodge is located in an extremely scenic area of the Glenn Highway,
between the cities of Glennallen and Palmer, Alaska. This is a
rural community in the mountains of South Central Alaska, 2 hours from
Anchorage. This would be a great opportunity for anyone looking
to earn good money over the summer and have the time to explore
Alaska's Sheep Mountain/Matanuska Glacier Area. There is plenty
of camping, biking and hiking nearby, as well as river rafting and
glacier treks.

At Grand View Lodge, we take pride in our establishment, and we are
looking for energetic individuals who take pride in their work.
The largest portion of our business is in the cafe, which seats 24
people and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as espresso,
beer and wine. We also have three guest cottages and a
full service RV Campground.

Morning Cook Position:
We’re looking for one person who
loves preparing food, but is not necessarily a trained cook. We
actually prefer to train our own cooks to our standards. Must
be a minimum 21 years and be knowledgeable in food safety and sanitation
standards. Presentation must be neat with good personal hygiene.
Prior short order experience is helpful. This position stocks
prep table &prepares breakfast, which mainly consists of eggs,
hash browns, omelets, pancakes, French toast and the like. Change
over to lunch requires switching out the breakfast items to lunch
items in the prep table, washing and cutting of produce and salad
items, and filling condiments. May be asked to assist with soup
making, baking, as well as washing of dishes and clean up of work
space at shift end. During slow times, you may be asked
to perform any duties required in the operation of a Lodge, including
maintenance. Start Pay $9.00 + DOE per hour and must hold Alaska
TAM card for serving beer and wine. |
Afternoon/Evening Cook
We’re looking for one person who loves preparing
food, but is not necessarily a trained cook. We actually prefer
to train on the job to our standards. Must be a minimum 21
years and be knowledgeable in food safety and sanitation standards.
Presentation must be neat with good personal hygiene. Limited menu
items are prepared in our small kitchen. Seeking an employee who
is multi tasked, organized and works well under pressure to prepare
meals, which are cooked to order . As time allows, duties
include assisting wait staff , stepping out of the kitchen with
cleaning, inventory, registering of guests, making of espresso drinks.
Does own prep work, mixing of sauces, marinades and some baking.
Cook is required to perform evening cleaning and shut down of lodge.
Pays $9.00 + DOE per hour and must hold Alaska TAM card for serving
beer and wine. |
Dishwasher/ Housekeeper:
This person must enjoy cleaning and be self motivated. Our
business reputation was built on immaculate accommodations for our
guests both inside
and outside. This person will be doing a variety of duties which
will vary from day to
day. Must perform duties, which include cleaning of our three
cottages, restocking, and inventory of supplies, washing, drying
and folding of linens. The primary dishwasher duty is to bus
tables and keep the dishes
washed and put away. This position can be asked to assist with
food prep, watering of flowers, mowing the lawn, stocking of
firewood, cleaning of the shower house and restrooms, painting and
grounds keeping. Will also be asked to do periodic cleaning of the
lodge. Applicant need not be 21 years old. Must be in good health
to perform all the aspects of this job and enjoy
working outside. Pays $7.15 per hour |
Wait
staff/ Barista:
Must be a minimum 21 years old and have prior serving experience.
Willing to train barista position. Attire is professional casual.
Seeking upbeat personality to serve our locals, tourists traveling
through the area, and
assist with wildlife viewing with guests as time allows. Duties
include serving meals & beverages, busing tables, washing
dishes, cashier, registering campground guests, cleaning
bathrooms, mopping floors, closing
shift. Pays $8.00 per hour and must hold Alaska TAM card for
serving beer and wine. |

Lodging & Meals:
Employees working full
time are provided room and board for $150 per month
under the conditions of their contract. Rooms are shared with the same
sex roommate, and when available, a private room can be reserved for
an additional fee. The employee’s common room is available with
shower/restroom, Cable TV, and FREE Wireless Internet. Laundry on
site.
Work Schedule:
-
Employees switch
between a 5 day work week and a 6 day work week,
alternating weeks.

Overtime is paid
after 40 hrs per week.

Tips are
shared and paid out on a monthly basis under the conditions of the
employee contract.
Conditions
for Employment:
-
All employees
over 21 will be required to obtain a TAM card issued in the
state of Alaska in order to serve alcohol, which must be obtained 30
days
after employment begins. The cost is $40.00 and transportation
will be
provided. In addition, we require a food sanitation & handling
course which is free of
charge.

Employees
must be in good health, able to lift 25 lbs, and be on your feet
for hours at a time.
Grand
View is a drug free work environment.
Preference will be given to those who are able to work
May 24- thru Mid September 12
Opportunity for a bonus for employees that work full time from May
24th to
September 12, and who fulfill requirements of seasonal contract.
